Christ is so much more than a great moral influence. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss the magnitude of the price that was paid on Calvary’s Cross. Christ’s death was a substitutionary atonement; meaning, He was the substitute for our sin at Calvary. The atonement, His death, paid the payment due to God for our sin. On the Cross, Jesus took on our sin so we wouldn’t have to. Man can’t atone for ourselves, but only believe in what Christ did on Calvary’s Cross for us. He settled our debt, and all we need to do is trust in that. We can only imitate Christ when the Holy Spirit works in our life, and that is only done when our faith is properly place in the finished work of Christ alone.
