Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and the panel discuss the time of John the Baptist. The people had recognized the voice of God in John. Brother Swaggart explains how Israel had been without the voice of a prophet for some 400 years; they had always had a prophet. There had always been a man of God, and women as well at times, that God would use; but then all of a sudden, there were none. That’s why we say he was a powerful preacher. Powerful. And you could imagine the feelings of Israel when that voice began to boom out. He cried, make the paths straight, and prepare ye the way, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. There was joy once again in Israel.
