A LOVELESS ORTHODOXY— Tonight at Crossfire, Pastor Adam Denoon preaches from Revelation 2:1-7; teaching on these things says He that holds the seven stars in his right hand. Brother Denoon explains how this scroll was being read to the church of Ephesus. They had heard a previous scroll from the Apostle Paul who had founded their church; Ephesians 1:15. Paul said, I have heard of your faith and your love to all the saints; but this letter from John, after Paul’s death, doesn’t sound as nice. Instead of being told they have love, he says, you’ve left your first love. Christ delivered this vision to John to reveal what was going on in the churches. Christ was moving to judge his people, and he had something to say to these seven churches of Asia; all having different situations, but all relevant to the body of Christ, then and now. While this was written to Ephesus, the other six churches of Asia were to take note of what was going on. Pastor Denoon says, we can be sure today, that two millennium later, we too, need to pay attention to what Jesus was saying to these churches, beware of false doctrine creeping in, and remember your first love of faith in Christ’s finished work.
