Preparing For The Coming Of The Lord— Tonight at Crossfire, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart preaches from Matthew 25:1-7. The overarching theme of this parable is the rapture of the church; meaning that this event, is the next event on the horizon. Jesus is telling the disciples then, and He is telling us now, to be watchful because we do not know the time or the hour in which He will return. Jesus is using this scenario as a way to explain to us that we do not know exactly when the bridegroom, which is Christ, is coming. The ten virgins represent the church, i.e. the body of Christ, which is all those who have said yes to Jesus Christ, regardless of church affiliation. Jesus then does something that is confusing, He separates the virgins into two groups; He declares that five were wise, and five were foolish. The lamps refer to our Christian lives, we are to be the light of the world; we must be ready with oil in our lamps.
