Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. Was that prayer of Christ¹s enough for the people who killed Christ on the Cross to be forgiven? Today on Frances and Friends, Sister Swaggart and panel discuss repentance that brings salvation. The Lord wants us all to learn to forgive, and to ask to be forgiven. Christ¹s prayer on the Cross truly sets the foundation for what forgiveness looks like, but this prayer did not give those responsible for Christ¹s death salvation. We are saved by faith. Satan will use feelings and emotions to steal our faith and bring in doubt. Brother Brown says a person must have a Godly sorrow, then when one has genuinely repented, the Lord will save; and in turn, you will know you are saved. In 1 John 1:9, we read when we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Brother Smith says faith is being able to say, "okay God, you said it, and I believe it".
