Love is the very foundation of the New Covenant, and it is how people can recognize that someone is really in the New Covenant. Love and the Cross are one in the same. You cannot separate them, because the Cross represents the love of God. Reading Romans chapter 5:6, for when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. It is the love of God given for unworthy sinners; not only ungodly, but also unworthy. God commended his love toward us and while we were yet sinners. God loved us anyhow, and sent his only begotten Son to a cruel Cross to endure the shame of death on the Cross for us.
