I pray for you. I give thanks for you, and I make mention of you in my prayers. The Apostle Paul here is praying for the church of Ephesus. Today on The Generation of the Cross, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart is joined by JSBC professors Paris Ragan and Dave Watts discussing the shepherd’s role of the Pastor, reading from Ephesians 1:18-19. The panel discusses the role of a Pastor today that is not a popularity contest. Paul functioned as an Evangelist and a Pastor. Brother Gabe says the main concern of the Pastor should be to see Spiritual growth in the church. Paul prayed for the believers in Ephesus to have a revelation of Jesus Christ; to have a greater understanding of what Jesus did at Calvary. Brother Watts says we need to have the Holy Spirit moving in our churches so the truth of the Gospel can go deep and take root; then, young believers will not be uprooted by any wind of doctrine. The Message of the Cross must be our foundation. Brother Watts adds, if we are to so see young Christians withstand this fight of faith, their eyes of understanding need to be enlightened with the true preaching of the Cross of Christ.
