Today on The Generation of The Cross, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart is joined by JSBC Professor David Watts reading Ephesians 4:11 discussing the call of God on the believer’s life. The Lord calls some to apostleship’s; others called to be prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit fell and the apostleship became more of a leadership role as the prophets of old had been; looking back, the prophets proclaimed much judgment as well as blessings as God bestowed on Israel for her obedience or lack thereof. In the New Testament, Pastor Gabe says there is a noticeable focus shift from the prophets of old to the apostleship position in the early church. Brother Watts explains how the church needed an authoritative foundation, and God wanted this foundation sure using the first century apostles during this ever-important birth of the church.
