Today on Insight, John and Josh Rosenstern discuss the origins of Thanksgiving. Looking back to 1621, where the Plymouth feast began a series of days of thanks in history. Discussing 1777, and George Washington’s thankfulness to God after the Battle of Saratoga. Then in 1789, Washington’s thankfulness showed forth again, and of course Abraham Lincoln established the National Day of Thanksgiving we celebrate every November in 1863. Lincoln’s actual words were, I do therefore, give thanks to Father in heaven to heal the wounds of a nation. The Rosensterns pray for the Balm in Gilead to comfort the viewers and pour over them, as so many are in slavery to unforgiveness. They pray that all may know, that Christ died for all the hurt and healing that is needed in so many individuals and families today.
