Man owes to God a ransom that he cannot pay. Jesus Christ came down to this earth and went to Calvary’s Cross to pay that debt for us. Brother Smith says the Resurrection was our receipt that the Cross paid it in full, all ratified in the Word of God. The blood makes it possible for the sinner to come again for forgiveness when needed; it’s not just a one time thing. The mercy seat in the Old Testament symbolizes God’s mercy, not giving the penalty we deserve for our sin; under the New Covenant, He offers us His grace, giving us forgiveness, goodness, and blessing, that which we do not deserve.
