Forgiveness is not deliverance. God honors true repentance. That is, we must confess our sin, and claim it for ourselves, without blame on others. Today on The Message of The Cross, Brother Swaggart and panel discuss how Adam and Eve sinned they heard the convicting words of the Lord, but yet they showed no signs of repentance. 1 John 1:9 says, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us from all unrighteousness. Brother Larson reminds there is no way to wear out the pathway to forgiveness before God. The sinner must have humility and brokenness. Satan will utilize the lie that you can’t come to God repeatedly for forgiveness. Because of what Christ did on Calvary’s Cross, God has made provision for us every time we sin to come to Him and be forgiven. We must not, however, abuse the privilege of asking for forgiveness by knowingly sinning over and over because we know God will forgive. Brother Swaggart says when you love the Lord you want to obey Him. He accepts a sincere and contrite request for forgiveness. And even more so, when the believer makes the Cross the object of their faith, the cycle of sin can be broken; then sin will no longer have dominion over the Christian. The Cross demands repentance of anything wrong, and makes it possible, by the Grace of God, to live a victorious life.
