At salvation we are immersed into Christ and regenerated; this is being baptized into Christ. Today on the Message of The Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and the panel discuss the redemption process. Jesus said, abide in me, and I in you, and the early church did not understand this. Since the death of Christ on Calvary’s Cross, Christ and the Holy Spirit can now live inside the believer. This is the New Covenant promise. At salvation, sin is addressed and the believer is separated from the power of sin. The second subsequent work, of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, can then come to a believer for service. Pastor Ragan says the baptism of the Holy Spirit was not designed to address sin, and when the believer does think it is the answer for their sin problem confusion will come. All benefits will come with believing in the finished work of Christ; then the abiding process, through the Holy Spirit, will give the believer the power they need to take the gospel to the world.
