Salvation does not come from self; it is a gift from God. Today on The Message of The Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Ephesians 2:8 discussing how faith and grace is the ONLY process by which God works. A believer who is struggling with sin can still be saved and go to heaven if their faith remains in Christ and the Cross. God’s grace softens the heart, but a rejection of grace, and a life of works will harden the heart. Discipline, religious activity, trying to earn or buy the gift of God will never work for salvation or for the process of growth, i.e., spiritual transformation. Christ paid for our salvation, we have the choice to accept it, and walk in it. Sin will not keep us from heaven as long as our faith remains in what Christ has done at the Cross. Our Christian walk is to be a result of Him working in us. He supplies us with the desire and the power to carry out His will by faith and grace, and that alone.
