THE COVENANT GOD- Jesus is going after our prodigal sons and daughters. Tonight at Family Worship Center, Pastor Tommy Bates reads 2nd Samuel 9:1-5 teaching on how God pardons and blesses the sinner. The story of Mephibosheth is type and shadow of what Jesus Christ has done for mankind on Calvary’s Cross. David refers back to a covenant made with Jonathan, as he searches for Jonathan’s son who was “lame on his feet” in Lodebar, which means a desert place. This typifies the sinner before coming to Christ; we cannot spiritually walk correctly, and we are lost in a dry and barren land. But just as David seeks out Mephibosheth, the Lord seeks us, the sinner, for we are lost. On our own, we have no merit, but Jesus Christ is the New Covenant, and in Him we are granted the kindness of God. The Holy Spirit will fetch out God’s covenant people, for the chariot of the King is on His way. Brother Bates encourages all believers to throw out the net of evangelism for there is a great harvest of souls coming in.
