FINISHING STRONG- God is medicine for the soul. He is our strength. Tonight at Family Worship Center, Pastor Aaron Parks from New Beginnings Church, in Evadale Texas, offers a word of encouragement to those who are spiritually tired. Reading Psalm 71:9-18, we see the aging Psalmist’s situation with the enemy on attack. At times, Satan is allowed to bring his opposition, as on this holy man who begs God not to leave him. Satan hates the obedience of the believer. Brother Parks reminds us to keep saying yes to God when the enemy comes in like a flood, because the only power the enemy has is when we believe his lies. This situation takes us to supplication in verse 12, as he cries for God to make haste and help, and in verse 13 he asks that God will hinder the enemy. His supplication turns to determination in verse 14 as he hopes continually through it all, and praises the Lord. Intensification will result from our determination; this is divine arrangement here, as hope leads to prayer and praise. In verse 15, his proclamation shows forth God's righteousness. When our hearts are drenched in hope and praise, our imputed righteousness and salvation will present itself to others. Pastor Parks points every believer to the strength of the Lord and how we all can finish strong in the same fashion as the Psalmist. We have been educated in the school of God, and we are fortified not by our own strength, but by His alone. Let His lessons and Word be exemplified as we walk out our faith in Christ.
