Christ came to earth as a man to go to the Cross. Tonight at Family Worship Center, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart asks the question, was Jesus always the Son of God, or did He become the Son of God at some point? The panel is studying Hebrews chapter one and Psalm 2:7. This question is a common topic of discussion among theologians, resulting in many different answers. Brother Swaggart says bible scholar Finis Dake teaches at some point Christ became the Son of God for a purpose; begotten at some point in time, He became the Son when Mary birthed Him. He was one hundred percent man and one hundred percent God. Brother Muzzerall says this doctrine of Eternal Sonship of Christ, is explained in Hebrews 1:5, where the scripture says on this day I’ve begotten thee. Brother John says there was always a decree made by God, that Christ would come and be the Son of God, but "on this day I have begotten thee” means that decree was manifested. Brother Swaggart sums it up by saying Christ came to redeem man, and thank God He came; in Him we are complete.
