Today on A Study in The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss Daniel 8:24; and his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. This speaks of the Antichrist; and he shall destroy wonderfully refers to Revelation 6:4-8. He shall prosper and practice means that his efforts will succeed in the destruction of the mighty and holy people, referring to Israel. We see the Holy Spirit jump ahead, from Alexander the Great, who lived about three hundred years before Christ, to the Antichrist who has not yet come upon this world, but is going to very shortly. The powers of darkness hate everything about God. Man is at enmity with God, so God’s redemption plan, which is exhibited in Jesus Christ, through the Jewish Nation, being offered as the solution for sin, is going to be hated. It’s the wicked heart of man not wanting to accept the need to be saved thus rebellion against redemption.
