Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss the role of the Holy Spirit before and after the Cross. Before the Cross, there were some tasks that God needed done, and the Holy Spirit would help through an individual, but then he would depart following the completion of the task. The Spirit had temporary access in a life. But after the Cross of Christ, the Holy Spirit living inside a man or woman was permanent. The New Covenant believer is a temple of the Holy Sprit, and He now can take up residence inside because our sin has been taken care of by the blood of Christ. There is a Spirit of regeneration with our New Covenant salvation. We have the possession of Christ in us to walk with us, to lead us, to direct us, and to guide us by the power of the Holy Spirit.
