God’s plan was for Israel to be evangelistic, but they misconstrued what God had intended for them with regards of taking the gospel to the Gentile world. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss Paul’s writings to the church in Rome. He shows the Jews and the Gentiles that they all have sinned. Speaking to the Jews, Paul said, you therefore that teach another, don’t you teach yourself self-righteousness? Paul exposes their pride in their law keeping. He wants them to realize they are not worthy of salvation by their works; he shows the Jews there sin is no lesser than that of the unbelieving Gentile. They must know their need for a relationship with their Savior. Brother Larson says this shows how easy it is to trust in something other than what Christ has done for us and why we must warn the people. Paul understood what the law was for, and he hated the religion that came out of what God had given; he knew he had to expose it.
