Law excites sin in the life of every human being. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 7:5, discussing the motion of sin, which is the aroused passion of the sin nature. God gave the law to show man what he is. It demands that man see himself as a sinner in need of an answer outside of himself. Man cannot sanctify himself; it is only through faith in the finished work of Christ alone that results in the Holy Spirit working to bring our character to be like that of Christ. Believers must be delivered from the law, and approach Christianity only through grace and faith in Christ. It took Christ’s perfect obedience, dying on the Cross, to atone for the sinfulness of imperfect man.
