Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss Romans 2:1; therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whosoever you are who judges. What is Paul meaning when he speaks of judging? Even after just listing a plethora of horrific sins, the idea of judging here is not the evaluation of what sin is. That is something each and every person that’s truly born again must discern right from wrong with the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to guide us. The Apostle Paul rather is teaching here that we are not to judge down another; that is, judging another to lift self up. When the believer tries to place himself or herself higher than somebody else, they are causing great harm spiritually speaking, because they’re saying I’m better than you. In this sense, we just judged ourselves, and placed a sentence on ourselves that God will address.
