Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 6:11 discussing how the believer is to reckon themselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ. Reckoning, is the idea of taking account of what factually took place at the Cross, and understand our position in Christ at the Cross, and understand our new source of life is the Holy Spirit. When the believer actively pursues law or self-efforts, the sin nature is activated. The Holy Spirit does not have the latitude to work in us if we don’t properly put our faith in the finished work of the Cross.
