Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss Daniel’s repentance for Judah, as he includes himself in it. He is repenting, and the Holy Spirit allowed him to do it. The panel asks, how does God accept that repentance on behalf of someone else that’s not repenting themselves? Here there is a distinction between a nation, and an individual. Daniel was called, as a prophet to the nation of Israel; his whole prophecy is about Israel as a nation. They sinned, but he’s referring to the restoration of the nation of Israel. In Ezekiel, we see we cannot provide an offering for another person; Ezekiel would say neither on behalf of their salvation. The panel agrees, Daniel’s praying for Judah, compares to Moses interceding for the Israelites, which they should have done. Brother John says, all believers should find themselves interceding for our nation’s sin and pleading with God to turn our country back to Him.
