In faith, willpower will come into play; that being, if we will place our faith in Christ crucified. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss choices, and how the early converts were transfering their faith back to law. Pastor Paris Ragan explains the war inside of fallen man, because the sin nature never leaves the believer. He reads Romans 7:23; there is another law inside of us fighting against our desire to live for the Lord. We want to please God, but we must understand this war inside and find victory over it with faith in the finished work of Christ. When the believer tries to overcome sin by an action or religious work, it keeps us weak, in brokenness and defeat. It will bleed over into every area of our life. When sin takes authority over one’s heart it only leads to death and destruction. We cannot do for ourselves what only the Holy Spirit can do. The church must open the flood gates so the Holy Spirit can do what God intends Him to do in the life of the believer.
