Have you ever wondered why the disciples did not move into an immediate rejoicing mode after they discovered Jesus had risen? That question was asked today on A Study In the Word. Brother Dave Smith says their whole world was shaken when He was Crucified. Brother Bob Cornell adds, He was there and then He was gone. Acts 1:3, Christ had to prove Himself over the next forty days. Matthew 28:17 says there was a wrestling with what just happened? Brother Loren Larson says they were in shock trying to make sense of it. When Jesus comes to them in Galilee on the fifteenth day after His resurrection, it started to sink in for them. Christ made it clear, they must go tell the people now that they understand. Brother Bob explains John 21:1-4, where Jesus restores Peter, he says this is the turning point that leads the disciples to do just that. Brother Larson points to, Luke 22:32, where Peter is called to lead the disciples back to Jerusalem. All setting the stage, for the day of Pentecost.
