Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel welcome special guest Roger Maddox who is a missionary primarily in West Africa. His team has handed out more than 42-thousand Expositor’s Study Bibles. Today, the panel discusses sanctification. Brother Swaggart says there is no willpower of man that can do what only the Holy Spirit can do in the life of a believer. Reading in Romans 8:3, we see that even the entrance of the Holy Spirit at salvation, while it saves man from His sin, it is not a guarantee that the believer will never sin again. The work of the Holy Spirit to transform us from the image of Adam into the image of Christ will only come about by our faith being anchored in Christ. Christ died on Calvary’s Cross to save us from the penalty of sin, and from the power of sin going forward; faith in anything other than the finished work of Christ will not accomplish the freedom that is only found in Christ.
