THE OLD MAN- Today on the Generation of the Cross, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart is joined by JSBC Professor David Watts reading Ephesians 4:25-29. Paul is expressing here that we need to put off the old man; he then goes into some vices, but not really limiting to just these. When it comes to the old man, the list is endless of things that we need to put off. Paul saw the issues that were facing believers of that day, but are still present in the church today. Topping the list, anger and lying, these sins harm people. Sin destroys, steals, and kills. It separates people from God. There are times that we must be angry enough at sin, that we have to take a stand and say, this is wrong. Pastor Gabe says in these situations, the believer knows that he’s angry for a legitimate reason and seeks to correct the situation in the most peaceful way possible. At salvation we become an entirely new person; if we anchor our faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit will lead us to the more peaceful ways of Christ.
