Today on The Generation Of The Cross, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart is joined by JSBC Professor Dave Watts reading Ephesians 5:25-27 as they continue their discussion of the role of the husband in a biblical marriage. They begin painting the picture regarding the church and Christ. From this perspective, we see the role of the wife likened to the role of the church, the role of the husband, to the role of Christ. But when you look at all of these and you look at it in a spiritual connotation, in the realm of the Spirit, you realize it wasn’t the church that laid down their life for Christ, but it was Christ who laid down his life for the church. It’s not the church that loves Christ unconditionally, but it is Christ who loved the church unconditionally. It is very humbling that as husbands, everything the husband does he must envision it in this mindset, of having an understanding, that I am loving my wife as Christ loves the church.
