Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Today on the Generation of the Cross, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart is joined by JSBC Professor Dave Watts, reading Ephesians 6:1-3 as they continue to discuss the Christian home looking at the role of children. Parents have a tremendous responsibility, but all too many have put off their leadership role of the child’s walk with God onto the pastor. They drop their child off at youth group, or children’s church, and say, you raise our kids in the spiritual way. Pastor Gabe says that is not how it’s supposed to be. God gave the responsibility to parents, to raise their children according to scripture. The role of a youth pastor and children’s pastor is supplemental; to come along side, and enhance the role of the parent. The parent is to train their children according to scripture, in the way that they should go.
