When God says it, it will come to pass. Today on Insight, John and Josh Rosenstern discuss Tisha B’ Av; as on this day, the Jewish people would regard it as the saddest day of the year. Many Jews practice rituals of mourning regarding the sad times of their history. On this day, in 586 B.C., Solomon’s temple was destroyed by the Babylonians. The Temple was a representation of the presence of God amongst the people. That marked the ending of the autonomy of Israel under the Kings. Going forward hundreds of years, they were again destroyed; 70 years after the death of Christ, Jerusalem’s second temple was destroyed by the Romans. The Jews were then scattered all over the world. This date has had many other ills for the Jewish people over the years. Brother Josh says much of it was the culmination of many years of disobedience. God’s intention was not for the Jewish people’s destruction, but for their regathering and restoration.
