We cannot tame something that has to be mortified. Today on The Message of The Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel welcome special guest Bishop Mark Leonhardt the State Overseer for the Louisiana Church of God. The Apostle Paul was determined to preach Christ and Him crucified because Christ’s work on Calvary was a finished work. After salvation, we must realize that the power of sin, that is left in the believer, must be mortified daily. Brother Joseph explains how we cannot address sin as if it is something we can handle with our own willpower. The Holy Spirit does not automatically mortify our members. We must anchor our faith in the finished work of Christ, and then, and only then, know this is the only way the Holy Spirit will work in the believer’s life regarding ongoing sanctification.
