God can only embrace perfection. When we express faith in Christ and what He did on the Cross, that puts us in a position of perfection in Christ, despite that that is not our condition. Today on The Message of The Cross, Brother Swaggart and panel discuss how Abel’s sacrifice pointed to faith in the spotless lamb of God, Jesus Christ. When this is our position in Christ, then the Holy Spirit goes to work on our behalf to rid us of sin and give us victory in our lives. Jesus Christ broke the bondage of sin on the human race when he died on the Cross, atoning for all sin. Brother Larson warns the believer that this is how the Holy Spirit works for our progressive growth as a Christian; all too often the believer misses this and goes about trying to sanctify themselves from a position of self through works. These efforts, while may be admirable, are not scriptural and cannot be accepted by God, just as Cain’s sacrifice could not be accepted.
