Water baptism does not save sinful man. Today on The Message of the Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss how a believer is baptized into Christ at Salvation reading Galatians 3:27. This is a baptism of regeneration and the Apostle Paul is clear this is not a baptism into water but a baptism into the death of Jesus Christ. Water baptism is an ordinance of the Lord and shows forth what actually happened in the believer's heart when they repented of their sins and asked Jesus into their lives as a Savior of their souls; this is where the believer is immersed into Christ. Brother Watts says anytime we add to salvation with any type of work or religious activity we are in error. The Cross of Christ is sufficient to deal with sin. Both church ordinances of water baptism and communion are representations of the spiritual truth of the Cross of Christ where we were joined with Him. Do this in remembrance of Me.
