David, a man after God’s own heart; prayed for God’s forgiveness for his sin of adultery and murder. Today on The Message of The Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and the panel discuss the doctrine of sin, i.e. rebellion against God. Reading Psalm 51, David’s prayer, some three thousand years ago, is a portrayal of Christ's prayer for us and for Israel. It is an intercessory prayer by our Lord on our behalf. Man’s problem is sin, and the only answer is the blood of Jesus Christ. Brother Larson suggests that man, oftentimes, only recognizes the action of sin, and not the true condition of the heart behind the act of sin. Even in a time under law, David knew to seek the grace of God in repentance. David understood the heart of God and His character.
