God gives His grace to the undeserving believer at salvation. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 4:4-5; now to him who works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. This scripture tells the believer we cannot workout our own righteousness, and God owes man nothing. Man is steeped in sin, and he cannot save himself. If God didn’t bestow His grace and mercy towards us, there would be nothing we could do to get it. But out of His love and grace, He gave of Himself on our behalf so that we, in turn, could benefit from it, for all who will receive this free gift. This is grace.
