Tithing is always linked to the Cross. Tonight, at Family Worship Center, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart looks at the wrong perspective, that tithing is not a New Covenant principle, but only an Old Covenant principle. In scripture, long before the Old Covenant was cut, we see Abraham tithing to Melchizedek in the Book of Genesis. Melchizedek was a type of Christ, receiving tithes four-hundred years before the Mosaic Law. Tithe means ten-percent; so tithing means, the first ten-percent of our increase goes back to God. Everything that we have originally belonged to Him. Cain’s offering was a sacrifice, which was a type and shadow of what was to come with Christ. If temporary priests under the Old Covenant received tithes, should not Christ receive tithes. Tithing is an act of honor, worship, and faith. This is an everlasting covenant.
