Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 8:10 discussing how only the Holy Spirit can make us what we ought to be. He performs all that He does within the confines of the finished work of Christ. This body that we live in is incapable of bringing us victory over sin, but the Holy Spirit living in us, is life because of His righteousness. Romans chapter eight deals with a born again experience; this is not someone who has been baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues. Many Pentecostals, have looked at Romans eight and said, well this is all potential after you are baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues, which is incorrect. Brother Larson says this scripture is clear; since we are in Christ, and Christ is in us, we have the Spirit moving within because of our right object of faith and we therefore can live free from the dominion of sin.
