Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss the benefits that the New Covenant has brought. The first fruits of the Spirit of course, are indicative of the truth that every born again believer has the Holy Spirit living in them. The first fruits include being regenerated, which is a total recreation of the soul and Spirit, i.e., born again. There is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, and there is the teaching, the comforting, the leading, the guiding of the Holy Spirit, and the equipping of the Holy Spirit, if it is available to the believer. There is the freedom from the dominion of the sin nature, freedom from the power of the demented flesh. There is freedom from the power of Satan. There is freedom from the draw of the world, all because of our union with Christ. We have a new life, and we have been given all things pertaining to life and Godliness. We have a source of power that is the equivalent of what raised Christ from the dead, so we have been equipped to live holy and righteous in this present age, but it requires that we have our faith in Christ and we understand what He has done for us, and we don’t allow our faith to be shifted from Jesus to something else.
