Jesus Christ is our only hope. Today on The Message of The Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Ephesians 4:4 discussing how the Holy Spirit only works through Christ. The believer must understand that everything that we need for life and living a victorious Christian life is given to us at salvation. At conversion, the Holy Spirit sets about to rid us of sin, that it shall not have dominion over us. We in no way are to help the Holy Spirit with this task. We must keep our faith anchored in the finished work of Christ, and the Holy Spirit will do the rest. Nothing in my hands I bring, only to the Cross I cling. The event of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not to be where our faith is anchored. Brother Larson adds that all gifts of the Spirit are grace gifts, and do not distinguish a maturity in our walk to be more like Christ. Faith in the finished work of Christ is to be our foundation, and that alone.
