Paul preached the Resurrection in Athens, but it did not seem to penetrate the hearts of the people. But in Corinth, the Holy Spirit told him to preach the Cross. Today on The Message of The Cross, Brother Swaggart and panel discuss Paul’s preaching of the New Covenant with the emphasis on what Christ did on Calvary’s Cross. Brother Smith says there is a temptation to avoid the preaching of the Cross because the Cross is an offense to self. Brother Cornell says the emphasis on the Cross for sanctification is just not in the church today. Just as Paul preached then, your identity is not to be found in a person or your favorite preacher; it’s to be found when you place your faith not in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. We are justified by faith, not of works.
