The goodness of God leads to repentance. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss fear and the thoughts of those who think God is out to hurt people. Nothing is farther from the truth; God is a good God. Brother Swaggart says, if you want to know what God is like, just read the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and see how Jesus lived while on this earth. Some people believe God smites us for our failures, but that is never the case. He does not condone sin. He hates sin. He hates it so much that He gave His only Son to pay the price for sin so that man can be free from the monster of sin. As preachers, we can do better; sometimes we may not preach it well. God loves the sinner, but He cannot condone sin because it is the ruin of everything in the world that is good.
