A BAPTISM BY FIRE- Tonight, night three of FWC Family Camp, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart preaches on the baptism of the Holy Spirit, reading from Matthew 3:11-12. In God’s Word, there are five symbols of the Holy Spirit to take note of. Water is a type of the Holy Spirit. He is the beginning of life. Pastor Gabe says Christians need to come to life and get full of the Holy Spirit. The Second is oil, symbolizing the anointing of the Holy Spirit; we need the anointing to serve God. The third symbol is a dove, which represents meekness and gentleness. The fourth is wind, which symbolizes power. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to fulfill the call of God on our lives. The fifth is fire, which is a part of the purification process as we are being made into the image of Christ. John the Baptist had one message and one activity; repentance, it’s not just a verbal affirmation but a complete transformation. This is for the church as much as it is for the world. Church is about Him, not us. There must be a change of the heart; when we are saved, we are baptized into Christ. Water baptism does not save us; it is an outward sign of what has already happened on the inside. The third, the baptism of the Holy Spirit gives the believer a power to take the gospel to the lost. The initial physical evidence of receiving this gift is the evidence of speaking in other tongues. Pastor Gabe says we don’t need the infilling of the Spirit to make heaven, but we do need it for living this life on earth.
